La Rocque is located on a stunning site in St. Martin’s, overlooking the east coast of Guernsey. It was conceived as a house of two halves: the entrance a private, unassuming granite frontage revealing little about the interior, but on entry opening out to two storeys of full-height glazing, exposing the breathtaking views out to sea.
The building is arranged around the garden terrace and swimming pool, with both ‘wings’ of the building splayed inwards to create an organic, gently-curving domestic dwelling that feels harmonious with the landscape. The local material palette also helps to settle the building, which sits on a sloping site, subtly and comfortably into its context.
The living areas are on the upper entry level so benefit from the panoramic views, while the bedrooms on the lower floor open up directly onto the paved terrace, with easy access to the garden, pool, jacuzzi and fire pit. The building offers a bold and characterful contemporary home, providing a modern standard of living in a stunning setting.
